Would you like to help give our passengers a great start to their journey?

At Billund Airport, we are already looking for more security staff to screen passengers, starting on 1 March 2027. You will play an important part in the passenger experience, where security, service and professionalism go hand in hand.

Your duties:
As a security staff member, you will be part of a rotation, moving between different roles in the security area. Screening is carried out using metal detectors, X-ray equipment and manual searches.

You will work with passengers, security screening, monitoring and patrols.

An important part of the job is helping passengers get through Security safely and efficiently. This includes guiding passengers on how to place coats, bags and items from their pockets in trays so they can be screened correctly.

You therefore need to feel comfortable working closely with people and be able to handle situations where you need to be thorough, patient and service-minded.

Your duties include:

  • Analysing X-ray images
  • Body searches and baggage searches
  • Enforcing current security rules in a professional manner
  • Creating a safe and positive experience for passengers
  • Working well with colleagues in Security and across other departments
  • Taking regular tests and assessments and carrying out quality checks

What we’re looking for:
No specific educational background is required. We provide thorough training.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is friendly, welcoming and attentive
  • Can stay calm and enforce rules in a positive, composed and professional way
  • Enjoys working with lots of people in a fast-paced environment
  • Can work both independently and in teams
  • Is physically fit, as the job involves a lot of walking and standing
  • Has experience in service and customer contact
  • Can communicate clearly in Danish and English, and preferably other languages
  • Is comfortable using IT at an everyday user level

Training and onboarding:
Your employment will begin with four weeks of basic training at Billund Airport, followed by on-the-job training with a colleague. You must be able to attend the full-time basic training from Monday to Friday, 7.00-14.24, for all 4 weeks.

Working hours and employment:
We are looking for permanent staff for both full-time and part-time positions. For part-time work, your weekly hours will typically be between 15 and 30, depending on the agreement and operational needs.

Working hours are anything but 8-16. The airport operates for most of the day, all year round – including weekends and public holidays.

You must therefore be prepared to work different hours. Shifts can fall at any time of the day and may include:

  • Early morning: 04.00-12.30
  • Day/evening: 12.30-22.00
  • Shifts lasting between 4 and 13 hours
  • You work every other weekend.

Weekly hours are averaged, so the number of hours may vary from week to week.

Weekend contract:
There is also the option of a weekend contract, where you work every weekend.

In this role, you work 24 hours over three days: Saturday and Sunday, as well as either Friday or Monday.

If you are interested in working every weekend, please mention this in your application.

Special requirements:
To work as a security staff member at Billund Airport, you must:

  • Be able to provide a clean criminal record
  • Be able to obtain confidential security clearance from PET
  • Pass a colour blindness test
  • Have an ordinary category B driving licence
  • Be able to document your employment and places of residence for the past 10 years

Because of the special PET security clearance requirements, you must have lived in Denmark for the past 10 years.

Working hours fall outside the normal operating hours of public transport, so having your own car is important if you do not live within cycling distance of the airport.

About the Security Department:
The Security Department consists of 3 areas: Passenger Screening, Checkpoint Nord and the Main Guard, and has around 130 employees in total.

You will join a team where we help each other, take responsibility and work together to create security and peace of mind for travellers.

Application:
Application deadline: 7 October 2026

1st interview: Held in week 44 as an information day, with several applicants taking part at the same time and a short individual interview.

2nd interview: Individual interviews will be held in weeks 45 and 46

If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact operations coordinator Bjarne Sørensen at bsn@bll.dk. Please note that applications cannot be submitted by email.

Due to security requirements, your CV must cover the past 10 years, and dates must be given as day, month and year.

We look forward to receiving your application and CV.
