A 97-year-old woman with very poor eyesight on Lindevej in Billund was the victim of a serious doorstep scam on Friday, when a man and a woman were let into her home.
Earlier, the woman had received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the bank. She was told that suspicious activity had been detected on her bank accounts.
A man and a woman later turned up at the address and asked to see the 97-year-old’s purse and bank cards, as well as her jewellery and watches.
They emptied her purse and stole her jewellery and watches – and the scammers also tried to snatch a necklace from her, but were unsuccessful.
Although the woman let the two people in herself, the police are treating the case as a burglary because they gained access to the home under false pretences.
The police are now looking for the unidentified man and woman, who may face charges of both burglary and fraud.
